ERASMUS POLICY STATEMENT (2007-2013)
Czestochowa University of Technology

The Erasmus Policy of the Czestochowa University of Technology is focused on undertakings targeted at reaching high EU standards in international cooperation, Bologna Process and EU educational and research programmes.

We have continued efforts towards wider participation in international initia-tives, further internationalization of study profiles, introduction of creative and innovative ideas in the field of teaching methods and research, improving quality and transparency, co-operation with enterprises and better information flow within university.

We are going to increase each year the number of outgoing and incoming students within Lifelong Learning Programme.

The current European Policy Statement (2007-2013), worked out by the SOCRATES institutional coordinator, acting in collaboration with the Universi-ty's authorities and in line with their strategic plans for the coming years, recognizes as the most important priorities the following targets:

  • developing more advanced tools in the field of participation in EU programmes and taking advantage of structural funds, with the special focus on student and staff mobility; know-how, good practice, experience, ICT and professional and language competencies transfer; different types of EU focused trainings and modules introductions;
  • developing and widening collaborative links and direct contacts with foreign universities and associations, European institutions as well as with local authorities, organizations, industry and enterprises;
  • continuing work on restructuring the faculties, deans' offices and central administration in order to enable efficient ECTS functioning and full foreign studies and placements recognition;
  • achieving at least 15% increase of the total number of exchanges and placement each academic year, along with developing on-line support for the mobile students (as dissemination of the SOCRATES-MINERVA project: ESMOS - Enhancing Student Mobility through On-line Support)

Specific measures to be implanted by the University to ensure high quality in mobility are as follows:

  • further internationalization of study profiles;
  • applying for European funds to create modern and well equipped lecture rooms, laboratories and scientific stands;
  • increasing number of efficient and language competent administrative staff for fulfilling duties connected with organization, realization and promotion of student mobility;
  • supporting ECTS and Bologna promoters at central and faculty levels;
  • introducing on-line ECTS Information Packages in English);
  • improving the quality and content of web information for mobile persons;
  • introducing optional subjects semester;
  • correcting, specifying and unifying at all faculties clear rules for recognition of study periods and placements abroad;
  • restructuring functioning of the Student Affairs Division as well as faculties and deans' offices in order to enable efficient ECTS functioning and full foreign studies and placements recognition;
  • developing and on-line support for outgoing and incoming students;
  • disseminating and promoting (web pages, info days, seminars) infor-mation on possibilities created by EU programmes in the field of edu-cation and mobility

The list of modules which can be chosen by students (including topics taught in English) have been developed in accordance with European standards. New editions of the university's PROSPECT (also in English version) is produced every few years (to give full and up-dated information on study profiles and educational offer of the Czestochowa University of Technology). Also electronic versions of GUIDE FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS are worked out each year along with relevant leaflets or posters.

The European Faculty of Engineering, with four following specializations:

  • Computer Modeling and Simulation,
  • Business and Technology,
  • Intelligent Energy,
  • Biotechnolgy for Environmental Protection.

will start to work at the beginning of the LIFELONG LEARNING PROGRAMME.

ECTS has been already introduced at our University by internal law. We have been improving all the time services and counseling for outgoing students as well as tutoring, integration, language learning, better accommodation facilities for incoming students.

Promoting of participation in European programmes has been aided also by the university's web pages and information days and sessions.

Within SOCRATES-ERASMUS scheme we have introduced Polish language courses and language tandems for incoming students as well as some intensive English, French and Italian courses for outgoing students. We promote participation in ERASMUS scheme of students who know well the language of a prospective host country. During the ERASMUS DAY 2005 we promoted also English courses and world-wide approved tests delivered and organized by the British Council.

In 2007 we are going to organize some further promotional events to give better visibility and publicity to ERASMUS activities, new LIFELONG PROGRAMMME, "extended" ERASMUS UNIVERSITY CHARTER and new ERASMUS POLICY STATEMENT (2007-2013). Among others, we are going to produce special promotional posters and leaflets, to give and interview to local media, to create a special LLP section at our web page.

All "hot" news about the LLP has been already spread among all possible actors involved in future activities, and among students, during the MOBILITY DAY 2006, taking place on 30 November 2006.

Our institution has not been involved at present in particular project related to such issues as gender equality or fighting against racism and xenophobia but it is our general rule to be in line with non-discrimination policy and social and economic cohesion, and we do our best to promote participation in ERASMUS scheme and mobility activities disabled students and staff.
